Basilica Saint Sofia

The Old Bishopric, commonly known as the Church of St. Sofia, is believed to be located at the historic center of the settlement. This three-nave basilica, measuring 25.50 meters in length, features a semicircular apse, a three-part nartex, and an atrium, or inner yard. The central nave is separated from the side aisles by orthogonal stone columns and brick arches, with a second arcade above. While the two-sloped roof structure is no longer intact, three arch windows are still visible on the apse’s east side. The apse is also adorned with a preserved synthronon. Inside the church, the walls are plastered and decorated with frescoes.
